Have you ever heard of a “community tree”? Why are there trees beside temples?

Have you ever heard of a “community tree”? Why are there trees beside temples? What do people really worship when they bow to stones? Why do swallows choose to build their nests along Lai Chi Kok Road? Which shops have the most resident cats? And what’s the story behind the banyan trees and their makeshift sheds — or the little tree once saved by the entire neighbourhood?

In this two-hour walking tour, long-time Sham Shui Po observer Ms. Lee Wai-yee guided participants through the district, weaving together stories of coexistence between nature and community.
Through her insights, participants took a closer look at how this grassroots neighbourhood continues to preserve a delicate balance with the natural world that surrounds it.

Date: 1 December 2024 (Sunday)
