Jockey Club Tree Lovers — Woodwork DIY Workshop

Transformed fallen Taiwan Acacia wood into handcrafted wooden stools

Total Sessions: 54

Total Participants: 553

Event Name: Woodwork DIY Workshop: Upcycled Wood Stools

Like people, trees also age and may eventually become unsuitable to thrive in the changing urban environment. When a tree reaches the end of its life, how can we make good use of its remaining value?

Through this Woodwork DIY Workshop, participants transformed fallen Taiwan Acacia (Acacia Confusa) wood into handcrafted wooden stools — giving new life to the trees and allowing their stories to continue in another form.

Event Name: Woodwork DIY Workshop: Acacia Wood Chopsticks

Following the previous upcycling workshop, this session guided participants to craft a pair of chopsticks made from fallen Taiwan Acacia (Acacia confusa) wood. Using woodworking tools, participants shaped the timber into chopsticks and completed the process through sanding and oil finishing, turning reclaimed wood into everyday utensils and giving it a new purpose.

Event Name: Woodwork DIY Workshop: Wood Carving

Woodcraft has a long and rich history. As an art form, it allows us to give new meaning and value to wood through techniques such as carving and shaping.

In this workshop, participants learned basic woodcarving skills and created their own plant-themed designs on wooden mobile stands.

By feeling the grain, texture, and character of the wood through the carving tools in their hands, each participant transformed a simple block of wood into a one-of-a-kind artwork.
