Jockey Club Tree Lovers – Percussion Instrument Bongo Cajon Workshop

In this workshop, participants handcrafted their own Bongo Cajón drums from locally recycled wood

Total Sessions: 30

Total Participants: 389

Every day in Hong Kong, many trees fall or are removed for various reasons, and large amounts of leftover wood from construction sites often end up in landfills. Yet even after being cut down, wood still carries the warmth and vitality of nature. By reusing reclaimed wood to create or transform new objects, we can rediscover its natural beauty and explore new possibilities in everyday life.

In this workshop, participants handcrafted their own Bongo Cajón drums from locally recycled wood. Through each step — from sanding and surface finishing to fine detailing — they experienced the tactile texture of wood, turning both craftsmanship and care into part of their finished creations.
